Clayton’s Creepy Cinema Returns!
Can you believe it’s
October again already? Feels like I just capped off the first year of Creepy
Cinema with my Cabin in the Woods
review on Halloween!
I had a blast sharing
my thoughts on a range of horror movies last year, but some of my favourite
movies to review were the ones featuring animals running amok. In fact, the
sub-genre of natural horror films is one that often gets neglected by horror
fans, but it’s one that I’ve loved since I was a kid, and I continue to find
new gems (and turds) in the sub-genre to this day. Many people might not realize just how many movies feature animals
attacking people. So, I’ve decided the theme of Clayton’s Creepy Cinema: Year
Two will be...
That’s right! I’m going to be doing 31 reviews of natural horror
films—including killer creatures, attacking animals, mutant monstrosities, and
more!
The one that probably
comes to most people’s minds when you think of the horror genre and animals as
villains is the all-time classic example, considered one of the greatest films
in the history of cinema, and easily one of my favourite movies ever: Steven
Spielberg’s 1975 masterpiece Jaws.
While I won’t be reviewing Jaws
(honestly, there’s nothing left to say that hasn’t already been said), a number
of the movies I will be reviewing took inspiration (to varying degrees) from
Spielberg’s tale of a killer great white shark.
I hope to introduce
you all to some of the best killer animal movies, some you may never have heard
of, and even a few you might want to avoid. Each week will consist of a new
theme, just like last year, and the subjects will range from raging reptiles to
creepy crawlies, to some creatures that defy categorization! It all starts on
October 1st, and will continue through to Halloween on October 31st!
Come and check out Clayton’s Creepy Cinema: Animal Mayhem, only on CCC movies!
